Nothing says preppy like a navy blue blazer! We've been experiencing some unseasonably warm weather here in CT this December, so why not open toed shoes!? After all, its going to be almost 70 degrees on Christmas Eve!
I'm all layered up on this rainy day. If you don't own a blanket scarf, you should! You can wear it as a scarf, like I did here, as a wrap and even as an actual blanket! Now that's what I call stylish versatility!
After a few crazy busy weeks in a row, it feels really great to get back to blogging! We are having an unusually warm December so far here in CT, so some days have felt more like spring! It's been a good excuse for me to take my camera outside and get some fresh air. There's a lot of holiday parties going on this time of year and a leather pencil skirt like this is a great way to dress up and still look polished. I added a little sparkle with the gold accessories!
This time of year it's important to dress in layers that you can add on or take off depending on the temperature change. Wrap sweaters and blanket scarfs are perfect for this. Wrap sweaters feel like being wrapped in a blanket with sleeves and blanket scarfs can literally double as a blanket, hence the name!
Usually when denim and leather are paired together, it's a pair of denim jeans and a leather jacket. Flip that around to a pair of leather pants and a denim shirt and you get a fresh new take on an old classic!
What I'm wearing...striped tee: Forever 21 (similar), denim: Target, over the knee boots: Anne Michelle (similar) , cardigan sweater: Marshall's (similar) , cross body bag: Lotus Boutique (similar), watch: Movado
Since our weather here in CT can fluctuate up to 30 degrees up or down from day to day this time of year, having a variety of light layers is a must! A short sleeve cardigan like this can be mixed and matched with just about anything and it adds the perfect amount of warmth for these slightly warmer fall days.
As the weather gets cooler, it becomes time to start adding on more cozy layers. One warm winter layering piece every girl should have in her closet is a faux fur vest. A vest like this can be dressed up or dressed down. You can keep it casual, like I did here, with a pair of distressed denim and booties. You could also dress it up by layering it over a long sleeve little black dress for date night!
I have to admit, I'm feeling a bit like a super hero in this caped blazer! I've had my eye on this trend for a while now and I'm so happy I finally pulled the trigger! If you read my blog often, then you'll know that I love a good blazer and I have more than I can count. However, I feel like this caped version has just taken my blazer game up about ten notches! One word, LOVE!
